Barcelona have made significant financial progress since Deco took over as sporting director, with the club recording a positive economic balance.
A recent report from SPORT highlights how, despite financial constraints in recent years, Barcelona have been able to manage their squad-building process carefully and efficiently.
The recent departure of Vitor Roque to Palmeiras has further strengthened the club’s financial standing, helping them achieve a surplus under Deco’s leadership.
A look at the change
Since taking charge, Deco has overseen both incoming and outgoing transfers, with a total expenditure of €80 million on new signings. At the same time, player sales have generated €89 million, resulting in a net profit of €9 million.
This careful financial management has allowed Barcelona to make necessary additions to the squad while ensuring they maintain stability in their accounts.
Among the players brought in under Deco’s tenure, the most expensive signing has been Dani Olmo, who joined for €47.5 million. Pau Victor arrived for €2.5 million, while Roque cost the club €30 million before being loaned out.
Details of the sales
On the other hand, the club has generated revenue through several sales. Vitor Roque’s move to Palmeiras brought in €25.5 million, while Nico Gonzalez’s transfer to Manchester City earned Barcelona €22 million.
Other notable departures include Mikayil Faye for €10.3 million, Julian Araujo for €10 million, Ez Abde for €7.5 million, Marc Guiu for €6 million, Unai Hernández for €4.5 million, and Estanis Pedrola for €3 million.
Another key aspect of Barcelona’s transfer dealings has been their strategy of retaining a percentage of future sales for some of their outgoing players.
This ensures that the club can benefit financially if these players make high-profile moves in the future, as is the case with Nico’s transfer.
Focus on the core
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s biggest success has been their ability to keep hold of their most important players.
Despite ongoing speculation about potential sales, the club has managed to secure contract renewals for key squad members such as Pedri, Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo, and Gavi.
Instead of weakening the squad by selling high-value players, Barcelona have focused on maintaining a strong core, ensuring long-term competitiveness while gradually improving their financial situation.
