Barcelona will not pay splash big money to land priority attacking target – report

Barcelona’s interest in signing Luis Diaz has been well-documented this summer.

The Colombian international has emerged as a top target for the Catalans, which has raised many eyebrows considering the fact that he is expected to cost a fortune.

Many believe that Barça’s interest in Diaz is quite unnatural as they consider the forward to be valued more than what he is worth.

Barcelona to follow a strict economic framework

However, a recent report from Achraf Ben Ayad has offered a clarification regarding Barcelona’s pursuit of Luis Diaz.

The journalist clarifies that Barcelona will follow a strict economic framework before making any move for the Liverpool forward.

The club have a fair idea of the matter and will not pay a large sum for the services of Luis Diaz.

This should come as a relief for many, who were fearful that Barcelona might break the bank on the Colombian international this summer, even though the forward has yet to become a household name in the Premier League.

That said, it remains to be seen whether or not Barcelona are able to convince Liverpool to sell the forward on a cut-price deal.

The Reds, after all, are reportedly expecting at least €80 million for the services of Diaz, which could be way out of Barcelona’s budget for the player.

Although the Catalans are optimistic about reaching an agreement with Liverpool, it is easier said than done. In fact, it won’t be surprising to see Barcelona being forced to consider a loan deal, although that might not be something Liverpool are up for.

The coming days, therefore, could be crucial as Barcelona look to move ahead in the race to sign the Colombian international.
